Sunrise Business Taxes Encourage Economic Growth
Any person or company who maintains a permanent business location or branch office within the City of Sunrise, for the purpose of engaging in or managing any business, profession or occupation, is required to pay a Sunrise business tax and obtain a business tax receipt.
This requirement is per the City of Sunrise Code of Ordinances, Article II, Section 7-27(1)(2).
Businesses operating in both Broward County and the City of Sunrise are also required to apply for a Broward County business tax receipt.

The Business Tax Receipt office (formerly known as Occupational License) is part of the Community Enhancement and Code Compliance division in Sunrise. The office is open weekdays from 8AM to 4PM, and may be reached at 954-572-2352 or BTRdocuments@sunrisefl.gov
Currently, there are more than 5,200 active business tax receipts in the City of Sunrise. Business tax receipts are renewed on an annual basis for all businesses located in the city, including authorized home-based businesses. Business owners planning to operate in the city must pay the Sunrise business tax, and obtain a business tax receipt, prior to conducting business.
To avoid late penalties, Sunrise business tax receipts must be renewed on or before September 30th of each year.
