About Coral Gables

History of Coral Gables

The beautiful City of Coral Gables dates to the Florida land boom of the 1920s, when George Merrick introduced Mediterranean architecture as part of his vision for a unique community that was equally attractive to businesses and residents.

Today the picturesque city is built almost entirely in Mediterranean Revival style, and zoning laws strictly enforce the historical feel and color palette. The historic Biltmore Hotel, above, is also a Merrick creation and today is perhaps the most iconic landmark of Coral Gables.

Upscale Merrick Park

One block south of Office Edge, on Ponce de Leon Blvd., the Village of Merrick Park offers outstanding shopping and dining, featuring Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom and 115 other world-class retail shops and restaurants. A Premier Passport is available from both anchor stores to help visitors make the most of their Coral Gables shopping experience.  For clients visiting your Office Edge offices, it offers a variety of after-hours entertainment.

Bustling Miracle Mile

To the north of Office Edge is the famed Miracle Mile and downtown Coral Gables, on Coral Way.  This trendy area is a broad boulevard with leafy lanes and outdoor cafes, boutiques and shops.  The downtown area is home to many specialty stores and more than 120 international restaurants—a paradise that casual and gourmet diners can enjoy year-round. It offers many options perfect for a business lunch or dinner.
